Year 1 Home Learning
Please find below a range of FREE educational activities for your child to complete during the school closures. This page will continue to be updated when more resources become available.
Whilst many of the resources/activities listed below are accessible for primary aged children in general, some are recommended based on the Year 1 objectives from the National Curriculum. Please use and amend to suit the needs of your child.
Reading
Your child will have been provided with a school reading book. Otherwise, any suitable text at home would be sufficient. This can be recorded in your child's reading record.

Spellings /Phonics
A list half-termly spellings are available on the class page, along with a downloadable file of the Year 1 Common Exception Words.

Writing
Now would be the perfect opportunity for your child to write creatively! This could be fiction or non-fiction, stories, poetry, newspaper reports, persuasive texts...the list goes on!
- Poetry 4 Kids
- Pobble 365 offers lots of great stimuli for writing stories, poetry etc.
- Some people have suggested sending letters to elderly adults in care homes whilst they have limited visitors. Our nearest care homes include Fleetwood Hall Nursing Home and Elm House.

Maths
Your child will have a login for Times Table Rockstars and/or Numbots. These sites are available on an internet browser or via the free app.

- White Rose Maths are in the process of producing home learning packs for Years 1-6. This will include video tutorials and activities.

- Homework mats are available on the class page with a variey of acitivies to complete.
- Twinkl , who offer high-quality resources for all primary-aged children, are offering parents and carers a FREE subscription. Please use the code UKTWINKLHELPS to sign up.
- This is a period of uncertainty and, naturally, your child may be feeling anxious about what is happening in the news and on social media. Public Health England are offering a free resource (including information and activities) which may provide some support for you and your family. Click here to access the PHE School Zone.
- BBC Bitesize offers a range of activites across the curriculum
- Computing - Scratch , Blockly
- Geography - National Geographic Kids
- Science - NASA Kids' Club
- Brain Pop - a variety of educational online games. Some content is free.
- Top Marks
- French (or other languages if you like) - Duolingo. You will need to create a free account to access this material.
- Downloadable pack from Classroom Secrets offering activities in: Maths, GPS/SPAG, Reading and Practical ideas.
