Y5 Victorian Southport

Class: Year 5 Year: 2022 - 2023

Year 5 went into Southport town centre to search for historial evidence of the Victorians. We were joined by Sue Latimer, who is part of the Townscape Heritage Project. She shared her expert knowledge and answered lots of our questions about the history of Southport! In the afternoon, we were treated to a performance at the Atkinson where we told the story of two shopkeepers in Wayfarers Arcade who owned a magical shop. We heard about the Mexico Lifeboat Disaster, William Sutton, Crossens School and the smallpox epidemic, and the lives of Mr and Mrs Atkinson.
