Year 4 are Bright Sparks!
Lesson: Science
Class: Year 4 Year: 2023 - 2024
Mrs Carroll came to visit us from Bright Sparks on Tuesday 21st February 2024! We spent a whole day learning all about electricity!
We explored different batteries and their volts and we used specially made circuit boards to explore what complete and incomplete circuits look like!
We made a list of what to check if our circuit doesn’t work:
-Wires in a circuit connected?
-Wires broken?
-Bulb loose?
-Bulb broken?
-Batteries run out of power?
-Batteries + connected to - ?
We conducted an experiment testing different materials to see to if they are conductors or insulators.
We tested:
-Plastic ruler
-Piece of string
-Iron paperclip
-Piece of fabric
-Aluminium foil
-Copper penny
-Rubber band
-Wooden stick
We experimented with motors to see what happens when we move the wires around.
We found that:
-It makes noise
-The motor spins in different directions
We practiced drawing all the different symbols for when drawing a circuit. We then drew a simple circuit and we explored what would happen to the brightness of the bulb if more / less batteries / bulbs were added to the circuit.
