Year 5 World Book Day

Class: Year 5 Year: 2019 - 2020

We had a fabulous World Book Day!!!

We started off with a stay and read session with parents, who were invited in to read with the children. We then explored our focus book, Flotsam by David Weisner. Flotsam is a wordless picture book centred around pollution and the effects it has on sea life. A young boy is down at the beach, examining all the flotsam;  bottles, lost toys, cans and many different types of pollution. During his adventure, he's lucky enough to discover an underwater camera! The photographs from the camera show secrets of the oceans... Year 5 used a variety of these images to compose a short piece of  music to depict the setting.
After lunch, we got cosy with a book, some juice and a biscuit. To end a lovely day, the whole school had an assembly to celebrate what we had been learning throughout the day.
